Why should I seal-coat my driveway or parking lot? |
| If you don't, over time the substances such as sun, rain, snow, gas, oils, salt, etc. will eventually oxidize/deteriorate the surface and will start causing it to disintegrate, which leads to cracks and potholes. If this happens, you will need patching or complete replacement. By sealing in liquid asphalt and oils, and at the same time repelling all of those damaging substances you will keep your asphalt new and looking great...and can actually double the life of your asphalt. |
 |
How long should I stay off of the fresh seal-coated job? |
| You should stay off of the sealer for 24-48 hours depending on the time of the year. Early spring and in the fall, it takes longer for the seal-coating to dry. During these times you should stay off for 48 hours. |
 |
When should my driveway be seal-coated? |
| Your drive should be sealed 60 to 90 days after it's been paved. We recommend seal-coating your drive again the second season it's been in. It then should be sealed every other year. |
 |
What if sealer gets on my brick-pavers, siding, fencepost or car? |
| Please give Bob Blalock a phone call immediately at 815.206.3066. We have water based solvents to clean sealer off of anything. |
 |
What should I do before you come to seal-coat our drive? |
| Make sure the asphalt is free from debris and cars. |
 |
Do I have to kill or remove weeds alongside of my driveway? Should I power-wash or clean my driveway? |
| We will clean and remove all weeds from your driveway. We will also trim the edges. If your driveway is extremely dirty, power washing of your drive would be a good idea to make sure the sealer properly adheres to the asphalt. |
 |
How do I get on your waiting list? |
| Once you sign your proposal, we will put you on the list. We will contact you at least 2-3 days before we will be in your area to schedule a day for your sealcoating. |
 |
When are you coming? |
| We will contact you a minimum of 2-3 days in advance when possible. Sometimes you will have up to a week or two. Our schedule is always changing due to weather and many other variables. There is a possibility of being re-scheduled a couple of times. We give our best effort to keep in touch with our customers. |
 |
What if winter comes before my driveway is sealed? |
| Your driveway will be okay through the winter. You should go easy on the salting of your driveway if it has not been seal-coated. The following spring, make sure you are on the seal-coating list as early as possible. |

What is the difference between Hot Pour and Cold Pour crackfilling? |
Smaller cracks cannot be filled with hot crackfiller. Normally, we can use a cold pour crack filler which does a very good job filling smaller cracks. Unfortunately, crackfilling is always a band-aid fix for your driveway. Once it is cracked, it will always be cracked.
Hot pour crackfilling will last longer than cold pour crackfilling, but the procedure leaves about 2" wide flat trails of the crackfiller on the driveway, which will be blended in somewhat when the whole driveway is sealed. The cold pour crackfiller is not as obvious to the casual observer, but it also is not made to last more that 6-12 months in most cases. Hot pour crackfiller lasts longer because it actually penetrates the crack and binds to its edges. Hot pour crackfilling is recommended for the space between the asphalt and a sidewalk or garage, because it seals the crack and prevents moisture from doing further damage.
